The Davis Family needs your support!!

Isabella's Update: 5/3@7am- she's been moved to the Neuro Ward. She's still under careful observation there's multiple cameras facing her bed etc. But it's not nearly as intense as the PICU.

She's doing well in speech & physical therapy, done here in the room. As the steroids & meds keep the swelling at bay, her speech is pretty normal. She favors her right side for balance etc we're monitoring her as a fall risk.

The speech pathologist found neuro "neglect" in the right margin when reading and writing which means her brain skips over words on the far right margin of a page or phone when turned landscape, like it didn't see it at all. It's reflected in how she'll write a paragraph also. We're monitoring that & will have some ongoing supports to help her.

Prior to this bleed, she was tested at reading at a 9th-10th grade level. She's in 5th.

She's not eating much but better than she has been. She deals with significant nausea & of course the headaches making food and drink unappealing.

Dad had to go back to work today to save one paid leave day he has left for her actual surgery day. He'll have to start unpaid FMLA for any additional days missed, that'll be a really hard hit. Only in America do we worry that a hospital stay will destroy you financially and/or keep you away from a critically ill family member.

Soooo.... yeah.... um that's all the updates I can think of. I did get a little egg crate thing to go on my tiny couch bed. So I did sleep a little here. No favors to all the slipped disks/stenosis in my back & neck though. Ouch.

Initial post:
Hi! My sweet friend and fellow mama, Ambrosia Davis reached out to me after her little girl was flown via air medical helicopter to Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin with a terrifying brain bleed that was later identified as an Arterial Venous Malformation (AVM). The great news is that it’s treatable and the outcome looks promising!!! The lead surgeon told the family that they will be at Dell until at least Monday. Her bleed is pretty big, and it's on the speech & comprehension part of her brain.

As anyone who has been hospitalized for an extended time knows, there's a lot of missed work which means missed wages, high cost of food at the hospital, and the medical bills that will follow the procedures/potential surgery so we are really praying for provision and ways to make this work physically & financially. ❤️‍

Please consider giving anything, even if it’s enough to cover the cost of one meal. The Davis Family is already so grateful for prayers and well wishes but I know this would also help them out a ton. Thank you and may God watch over Isabella as she battles through this!!
