Dave Spencer was one of the most humble, down to earth men you could ever meet. He had a smile for everyone he met and truly tried his best to live his life in a way that reflected his enormous faith.

On the morning of Saturday, May 22nd, Dave and his brother went for one last fishing trip on the Salmon River before his brother was set to join the Marines. While maneuvering a rapid, the engine on their boat died and it capsized. Dave's brother made it to shore, but Dave was caught in the current. Locals with jet boats searched the river throughout the day, but no trace of Dave was found.  A volunteer search party including half a dozen private jet boats, drones, small aircraft and over 60 volunteers on foot spent Sunday combing the river and the steep canyon hills looking for any sign of him. The jet boats are still searching, but he has not been found.

Dave left behind his wife of almost 11 years, Danielle, 7 beautiful children, his parents & siblings and a thriving business. Being from a small town, Dave and Danielle always knew each other, but by the time they reached high school, Danielle had fallen hard for the tall, funny goofball in the back of the class. He loved to tease her, but by the start of college, she had won his heart and a true love story began. In Danielle's eyes, Dave had hung the moon.

Dave and Danielle shared a tremendous love for God and before their marriage even started, they both knew they wanted a large family to share that love. Over the next 11 years they added 7 children to their family, doing their absolute best to instill in their kids a deep appreciation of their faith. Their youngest son celebrated his first birthday just two days before Dave's accident.  Dave's whole world revolved around his family and he was their favorite person. The kids would run to the window to see his pickup pull up the driveway at the end of the day and they lit up whenever he entered the room. Regardless of the day he had, Dave always welcomed his family with the brightest of eyes and the biggest smile. On the job, it was common to see Dave with extra little "helpers" in tow, and he loved having his little buddies along. Running his own business made for a lot of long days, but Sundays were reserved for God and his family. On most any given Sunday in the summer, you could find the family down at the river, soaking up the sun and playing in the water; generally with Dave right in the middle, holding no less than two kids at any given time.

As the Owner and operator of Uhlenkott Pump Service, Dave worked tirelessly to provide for his family while Danielle worked at home, raising their children. Dave hustled everyday to create a thriving business that he could one day pass down to the next generation. His work ethic was unparalleled. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, a love that he passed down to his sons and daughters.

This sweet family has a hard road in front of them, coping with the loss of their anchor and sole provider. True to the principles that Dave tried so hard to model, the family is standing firm in their faith and trusting in God to carry them through this earth shattering time. Raising a young family is an expensive venture and this situation is made even more difficult by the fact that Dave is still missing. If you are able, please consider donating to the wellbeing of this family.
