Our family has struggled in unbelievable ways for the past couple years. I have now been diagnosed with permanent, irreversible nerve damage, over two years after undergoing a spinal fusion surgery. I am still regularly in a wheelchair, but working with PT to get any and every ability back that I used to take for granted.
My sweet husband, Jim, has been my loving caregiver and warrior, fighting alongside me in every moment, even while enduring two job losses himself, and taking on the majority of the household responsibilities, driving, shopping, running our sweet Andrew to school, and everything in between!
My disabled and bedbound brother was finally able to come home from the hospital after about 10 months battling organ failure as a result of sepsis. My 74yo mother has been his 24/7 caregiver and we have all just somehow managed to hang on.
We all suffered through a barrage of illnesses last year (the first ever public school year for our son), from multiple bouts of bronchitis, to pneumonia, Covid, sapovirus, RSV, laryngitis, and more. There wasn’t a week where we were all healthy at the same time until this last summer. It’s been the hardest time of our lives.
I have personally gone through the worst experience with depression, anxiety, and panic attacks than I’ve ever experienced before. It is truly a miracle that I’m even here to post this update. I have been working intensely with my psychiatrist, therapist, and a long list of doctors and specialists to get both my mental and physical health back on track. It’s a long, slow process, but I’m here for it! ❤️
It humbles me to admit that I am writing today because my family needs your help. Our one remaining vehicle, Jim’s old Honda Element, is suffering a couple major issues with the AC/heating system and the clutch that will cost us around $1200-$1500 to repair. We are absolutely broke. So much so that we are actually three months behind in our rent payments and facing homelessness.
Sadly, because of my physical condition, my fudge business has been mostly shut down for over a year, Jim is currently unemployed, but on track for some big new contracts with his game and world building in VR. So cross your fingers he gets a couple contracts soon!
So, we are asking for donations to fix Jim’s car so he can continue to get our son to school, get me to doctor appointments, and get the grocery shopping and errands done for the whole family. We are also including in our GoFundMe fundraiser $1000 to help get my business back on track now that I am able to work again. Many of my ingredients/supplies have expired and need replaced to make the yummy fudgies and treats we sell. ❤️
