The Curry's

Hi, my name is Ang Curry and I am raising funds to help my parents.

My brother, Dave, has been struggling with diabetes for the last seven years. He is diagnosed with Macrovascular disease due to complications of diabetes. The disease is associated with atherosclerotic plaque in the vasculature supplying blood to the heart, brain, limbs and other organs. Dave has undergone multiple amputations of his toes and feet. On May 26, 2023 he will be undergoing an operation to amputate his left leg, below the knee.

For those of you that know Dave, know that his heart is big and he can light up a room. He is a super talented artist and wood worker. From building stage productions sets to coffee tables, the man can do it all and his work is undeniably unique, creative and simply out of this world.

Also if you know Dave, you know he's been down on his luck. He recently underwent a separation and a divorce from his wife of thirty years. His family is broken and they are all coping to heal in their own way, but the fact of the matter is his family support is not as it used to be. That's life, but his health is a major issue in him being able to hold down steady employment. Still he continues to fight. When his body allows him, he works hard. He continues to get out of bed every morning when everything inside him tells him not to. He hasn't always made the best life choices, but as his only sibling, it has been incredible watching him turn his life around in this last year. His alcholism led our family down a deep, dark path for many many years, but he's put the bottle down and I finally have my brother back. I can't explain in words how grateful I am for that.

Despite his the tremendous strides that he's made to swallow his pride, make his amends, humble his heart, dig deep and finally be the man we've missed for so long, his macrovascular disease just isn't letting up. Dave is facing yet another long road to recovery. The surgery is scheduled for May 26. He will remain in the hospital for four days post amputation. It will be eight weeks of strenuous physical rehabilitation to get him ready for his prosthetic.

This fundraiser isn't for Dave; it's for my folks. My parents are both in their seventies. They live on a limited fixed retirement income. When Dave is not able to work, he doesn't get paid. He doesn't have benefits that allow any sort of paid time off. My Mom & Dad are litterally reaching outside of their means in order to finacially support Dave during the next three to six months until he is able to start working again. That means my folks are covering Dave's living expenses until he is healthy; his rent, utilities, phone, food...all of it. And the simple truth is they don't have it to give.

None of them know I'm starting this fundraiser. It would be magical if, with your help, I can take this finacial burden off my parents. They are broken, too. They are sad beyond belief watching their son beat his addiction to alcohol only to succumb to yet another disease. They have supported my brother for 51 years in every way imaginable. Their hearts are so big and they love him so much, it kills them inside to watch him continue to struggle. They are digging as deep as they can, but still having to borrow money in order to continue to give Dave the best outcome possible.

It is with the most humble of hearts that I am doing this. I truly appreciate any amount you give. I'd love to record my parents reaction when I present them with your donations. I'll post that on my FB page.
