India Valerie Collins, Psy. D. AKA: The Crisis Fighter
I am a professional Psychologist, a warrior who has battled mental health crises where ever I found them, from Assisted Living Facilities to Prisons. I’m now on the road to recovery from a physical disability that temporarily has left me unable to work, but I refuse to throw in the towel. We are in the middle of a global pandemic that is disproportionately traumatizing and killing people of color. I believe that with your $8,000 in financial support I will be uniquely qualified to be an integral part of the solution, soothing troubled minds and helping to eradicate the psychological plague of mental illness.
My ultimate dream is to become a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Licensure will allow me to increase the depth, scope, and range of mental health services I can provide. Trust me, partnering with you, I will do the work to make my dream reality. Why? Because, I am a fighter, a determined soul.
It’s been a challenging, life-long battle fighting for my education, respect and equality. And at every step, I accepted the challenge and kept on ticking! I completed a BA in psychology at age 43, while working as a single parent and raising two children. I attained a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology at age 47 and a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at age 54. Plowing through graduate school was not easy, as being the lone, elderly, black, female sometimes left me feeling isolated, lonely, sad, and frightened. But, I did not give in and refused to give out! Because I am a fighter, a determined soul.
In order to expand and deepen my knowledge of the effects that mental illness has on humans from diverse cultures and backgrounds, I participated in an educational program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Beijing China. I worked with international clients and colleagues in hospitals and clinics studying and practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine. When I returned to the US, I incorporated the training I received in China when offering interventions for healing the mind.
Licensure will allow me to provide comprehensive treatment to the wider spectrum of mentally disturbed persons, also, it will strengthen my ability to make significant contributions to the mental health complex. CPLEE and EPPP study materials, application/exam fees, and professional proctor>$6,025. CEU requirements>$ 850.00, transportation/accommodations >$1,030. Please help me gather the funds that will allow me to begin preparing for licensure by November 31st, 2020.
Attaining licensure as a Clinical Psychologist requires numerous hours of concentrated study, preparation, stamina and focus. The battle is joined, and I’m ready to do my part, because I am a fighter and a determined soul...and I need your help. Thank you in advance for whatever you can contribute.
