My brother Drew and his lovely wife Janette are the epitome of hard working American families. They have 3 beautiful children and they have come upon extremely hard times. Drew and Janette have dreamed of owning their very own house for their family. That day finally came true and they purchased their first home. This is where everything went wrong. The realtor, inspector, and original home owner all said the home was perfect for my brother and his family. To their dismay, if you have ever seen the Tom Hanks movie "The Money Pit", this house was it. They have had to gut the entire home from top to bottom. All the electrical had to be replaced. The original home owner had actually used cheap extension cords with both ends cut off and spliced into the wiring. As they began to fix that, they found the entire basement was riddled with mold that had been painted over by the home owner. $15,000 into that fix, they found out that the entire foundation was cracked from one end to the other!!! I believe that with the help of our parents and myself we could have helped them recover. Then Drew came down with COVID-19 and had to quarantine himself. The main issue was that he had already used ALL of his sick days and personal days fixing the home for his family so they wouldn't have to have a rental home and mortgage on his new home. They can't move into the home they thought was their dream come true because of my brothers weakened immune system from his extreme asthma, and extensive allergies; not to mention that his son Ethan requires a service dog for his Autism and his own severe Asthma. Drew's COVID-19, thank god, subsided so he could go back to work and get everything back on track. Then again the "The Money Pit" struck again as he tore his bicep muscle and tendons and ligaments in his left arm requiring surgery in the next 3 weeks or the damage will be irreparable. He has been out of work so long now that if he loses his job, he won't have insurance to repair his arm, and may not be able to find another job working for the city public works. They now may have to sell the house they just purchased at a loss since it is in shambles right now due to the remodel that has stalled. Janette and the kids have expressed over and over that they miss their dad, and husband. In Janette's words, "Drew is my superhero" and can't live without him. I am Active Duty Military and am restricted from traveling or I would have already been their to help. Please see it in your heart to assist my brother in his time of need. He is a good man and an even better husband and father. Drew Lamb is the hard working man that this country was built on and it would be a travesty to see his dedication and love for his family to go unrewarded.
