When I separated from my ex and moved into an apartment this past May, I expected it to be the beginning of an exciting new chapter of my life. My chronic illnesses were reasonably well managed and I had even been working part time for the past six months or so. Finding out I had stage 4 gastric cancer mere weeks after getting the keys to my new future was nowhere on my radar. Moving progress halted as I had near daily medical appointments for a while, I'm no longer able to work due to the intensity of my chemo treatments, and my daily necessity costs have increased dramatically as I'm unable to complete my own errands and need to pay premiums for everything to be delivered to me. For now, my health insurance expenses are covered and my deductible has been well met for the year. But I've run out of money from my part-time job that was meant to sustain my budget for everything outside of regular expenses like rent and utilities. $3000 is what would help me get caught up with the extra expenses that I can no longer rely on employment to cover.
