It takes more than just hard work, coaching and determination to reach that Olympic dream. I have a dream of not only making the 2026 Winter Olympics but making a career as a professional athlete on snow.
After completely destroying my knee a week before the Junior World Champs in March 2023 I thought my chance was over to make the Youth Olympic games. After knee reconstruction and 10 weeks of hard rehab and gym work I made it back on snow in July and gained enough points to qualify for the January Games. This is the next step in achieving my Olympic dream!
Growing up my hero's and inspiration have all been professional athletes, I want to be able to inspire the next generation of skiing athletes and live a lifestyle of action, dedication and hard work. I'm well aware of the challenge I'm facing to reach the Olympic games or become successful on the World Cup.
Ski Racing is a grass-roots sport in New Zealand, to reach the Olympic games I am relying on forming partnerships with brands. Government funding is practically non-existent. The athletes we are competing against are generally fully funded, so we need to make training and competing our number one priority in order to compete at the highest level. I have big aspirations and the more support we can generate, the more we can deliver results.
The price to attend the Youth Olympic games in South Korea is $6000. This only includes the games, I am already travelling and training in Canada and Europe before the games at my cost. I've got a job working on scaffolding before we fly to Calgary on 1 Dec. Any help at all is greatly appreciated.
