"The Cost of Man" Short Film Project

Hello, my name is Dylan. I’m a 17-year-old videographer with hopes of getting into film and television. I have been working on my passion for six years now, and I believe that directing and producing my own short film would be a significant achievement and an important stepping stone toward my goals.

I mentioned this idea to my mentor, who had written several short stories in 2019 and was enthusiastic about adapting one of them into a film. Over the past few months, we have worked on adapting the story into a screenplay, finding actors and locations, and bringing in other people building their creative skills who, like myself, are looking for experience and a way into our desired line of work.

We are now at a point where we feel the story is compelling and complete. It follows the challenges two old friends face as they confront how the world has been neglected by humanity and what they imagine can be done about it. However, the lengths these
characters are willing to go to in order to find a solution differ drastically, leading to a horrifying realization and a deep sense of betrayal.

The final hurdle is the budget. As things stand, my mentor and I are paying for as much as we realistically can in order to create the best possible project and experience for everyone involved. However, renting equipment, buying props, and paying for food and people’s time all add up very quickly, and we’ve reached a point where outside support would be such a blessing to help aid us in creating this project.

Our goal is simply to tell a deserving story as well as we can, while also giving passionate people the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and enjoy the creative process. Any money donated would go directly toward the project, whether that be equipment or food during production. By supporting this project, you are directly helping young filmmakers and creatives gain hands-on experience in a professional, collaborative environment. Any help toward this goal is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
