On April 5th, 2020 my dad passed away from stage 4 liver cancer that had spread from his esophagus. This was so extremely unexpected as up until very shortly before his passing my dad had no apparent symptoms. He went to the hospital before his death for issues relating to weight loss from extensive dental work. Later on we were told that it was due to the cancer, which caused him to need to go back to the hospital as he was too weak for treatment at a cancer center. That is when we were told by a doctor that the cancer had become so aggressive and spread so quickly that in her opinion he would likely pass in 24-48 hours.
This broke us and was the last thing we ever thought would happen. My dad was so important to us and we never imagined losing him. At home, my dad was a huge family man and loved all of us so much. He loved the summer. Going to the beach, especially in Rhode Island, where he is from was his favorite thing to do. He loved baseball and golf, and had dreams of traveling and golfing when he retired. Driving down the road you could bet he was listening to either REO Speedwagon or 38 special. I remember he got me into that music when he would take me to school when I was younger, and every morning I would ask him to put in our favorite CD. He loved seafood and making scallops so much, that whenever my brother and I would come home from school you could smell it as soon as you stepped into the garage. He loved them almost as much as he loved us, and just the other day he told me he wanted to be there to walk me down the aisle. We love him and will never stop missing him.
During this extremely difficult time, we are asking for donations in lieu of flowers to be put towards medical bills, cremation and other expenses from this sudden and devastating loss.
