Help Us Create a Safe, Sensory Playground for The Coppice Specialist School and Sixth Form.

We are a dedicated special school supporting pupils with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties). Many of our learners also experience significant sensory regulation needs, meaning the right environment and equipment is not just beneficial — it is essential for their wellbeing, development, and ability to engage in learning.

Unfortunately, our current playground is no longer fit for purpose. It does not meet the complex sensory and physical needs of our pupils and we urgently need to improve it to ensure our children can play, regulate, and thrive in a safe and inclusive space.

What We’re Fundraising For:

Our initial goal is to purchase a specialist sensory swing, which can make a life-changing difference for many of our pupils. Swings provide:

Calm and regulation for overwhelmed learners

Gentle stimulation for those who need sensory input

Opportunities for joy, movement, and engagement

If we are fortunate enough to exceed our target, we would also love to add accessible climbing equipment, creating a richer, more stimulating outdoor environment for all our children.

Our Challenge: The Yorkshire 3 Peaks

To kickstart our fundraising efforts, our incredible staff team is stepping up to a huge challenge — the Yorkshire 3 Peaks!

In September, on their own time, they will give up a Saturday to hike:

One, two, or all three peaks (Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough)

Covering up to 24 miles of challenging terrain

The staff are already training hard to prepare for this demanding event, pushing themselves physically and mentally, all to improve the daily experiences of the children they support.
