Help The Copper Crow Recover From Flooding

Donation protected
When the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic struck New York and then Governor Cuomo shut down bars and restaurants across the state my father, Jason Pierce, immediately jumped into action. Within 24 hours he founded Feed Albany, coordinated the use of shuttered restaurant kitchens, including his own at Savoy Taproom and others all over the City of Albany, and prepared and distributed meals to at-risk and in-need individuals throughout the Capital Region of New York State. To date the not for profit organization he founded has provided over 750,000 meals to people that needed them. Now he’s the one that needs YOUR help.

Overnight Sunday, a pipe burst in the warehouse space above the Copper Crow, sending over 65,000 gallons of water cascading down into the bar and dining room for over 31 hours, until it was discovered early in the morning on January 17th. The water damage sustained was catastrophic.

Given the shear volume of water, as you can imagine,  damage was extensive.

Vast portions of the ceiling will need to be removed. Portions of the vintage bar and back bar from the Malt River Brewing Company will need to be rebuilt. The server station will have to be entirely rebuilt. The Victorian cast iron gates have to come down and the wall underneath it partially rebuilt. The walk-in cooler is no longer working. Some of the custom art work was damaged and may need to be replaced. New tables, stools and banquettes, new lighting, televisions, speakers… the list goes on, and on, and on.

Both my father and the building owner carry insurance but what they’ll cover and when anyone will get paid is not yet known. At best though, my father might see some money three weeks from now. In the meantime he’s got to pay his staff, hire contractors and order new equipment, furniture and fixtures.

My father has always been there to help others and now I’m hoping some of you can be there to help him. All of the money raised will be provided to him to be used towards recovery and cleanup costs, reconstruction, procurement of furniture, fixtures and equipment and the payment of staff and bills during the closure.

Thank you in advance for your help.
