THE COMPLAINTS DEPT. Innovative Interactive Theater!

Donation protected
Welcome to The Complaints Dept. Your complaint is important to us. Unfortunately, all of our Complaint Resolution Representatives are busy right now. Please relax, and enjoy the following messages.

“Did you know that a complaint says more about YOU than the world?”

What is THE COMPLAINTS DEPT. ?

The Complaints Dept. is an absurdist take on corporate culture and jargon, visiting the banal, mind-numbing administrative, bureaucratic interactions at places like waiting rooms, customer service counters and the DMV. Fear not, it’ll be a fun detour through the Land of Red Tape!

So get your nametags, ballpoint pens, and powerpoint presentation clickers ready because our venue - The Hobgoblin Playhouse - will be transformed into a surreal and zany corporate office staffed with eccentric characters and clowns. Be there AND be square!

This show is completely immersive and interactive, in an ever-changing multi-verse, designed for theater lovers, comedy enthusiasts, and anyone who has ever had a complaint about anything. I’ve been working with other creatives: writers, directors, actors, insurance brokers and various consultants to bring you wonderful, weird theater.

Who am I?

I’m Zander Raphael, an actor, singer, writer, producer, immersive experience designer, and performance artist!

I’m ecstatic to share that I’ve been chosen as a 2024 Hollywood Fringe Festival Artist Fund Award Recipient! This helps me bring my latest immersive theatrical production, THE COMPLAINTS DEPT., to the Hollywood Fringe Theater Festival this Summer!

“Here at The Complaints Dept. your complaint matters.”

My Bio:

Zander Raphael (He/She/They) is a gender-fluid actor, singer, producer, clown, brand ambassador and performance artist. They made their Hollywood Fringe debut last year in the musical Cherries, Rare & Fair: A Quest For Orgasmic Rainbows, as a sexually frustrated pubescent mythical beast. Since the age of nine, Zander has worked professionally in Hollywood as a studio session singer and actor on TV shows, movies and commercials. Throughout the pandemic they acted in, produced and designed virtual events for a worldwide audience as a member of Co-Reality Collective (CRC) and The Caravan, creators of immersive solo, group and party experiences. Online participants were entertained, challenged and teleported through Zoom wormholes to uncharted technological territories. Zander additionally collaborated with SparkleVerse as a key performer and experience designer for the 2020 & 2021 Virtual Burns (Digital Burning Man). Their immersive character work includes hosting a Glass Onion themed escape room for Netflix, interacting with San Diego Comic Con patrons as an ancient Greek security guard and teaching Rage Therapy as The Queen of Hearts. They performed with Élan Artists as a Rabbit-Flight-Attendant-Tour-Guide in The Legends of Wonderland at The San Francisco Mint. Zander has been spotted as a Zombie Cowboy scaring Spotify music influencers, pouring cocktails to the Queer community in West Hollywood’s Gayborhood and dressed as an inflatable T. Rex roaming Venice Beach! This year for Hollywood Fringe, they are producing and starring in three Complaints Dept. projects: 1) Enter The Complaints Dept.; 2) Complaint Appointments with The Supervisor (A Complaints Dept. 1-on-1 Adventure); and 3) The Complaints Dept. Awards Show Gala Spectacular! Their Instagram is @Zander_Raphael

What does your donation go towards?

It costs a lot of money to put on a show!

Expenses such as:

The Creative Team (Director, Associate Producers, Actors, Writers, Designers, Stage Manager) $5,000
Set Dressing, Costumes, Props $1000
Marketing and Promotional Materials (Marketing and Social Media Manager, Print and Digital Ads, Posters, Postcards, Business Cards) $1,500
General Liability Insurance (Required by Festival): $1,500
Venue Rental (For Rehearsal and Performances): $2,000
Food (For Rehearsals and Performances) $500
Misc. Unexpected Costs $500

TOTAL: $12,000

Why Should You Donate?

We are aiming to raise $8,000 via GoFundMe and the balance will come from ticket sales and My Piggy Bank... As an actor living in LA who isn’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise, $12,000+ is a lot of money! That’s why your support is so important.

“You have complaints… we have solutions!”

If you’re unable to make a contribution, we totally get it! (Believe us, we’re artists. WE GET IT!)

Here are five things you can do right now that would make a huge difference to us and won’t cost you a penny:

1. Share this campaign on your social media.
2. Tell your friends about the Hollywood Fringe, and our show specifically.
3. Sign up for our email list here: https://substack.com/@zanderraphael (GoFundMe has changed their privacy terms and campaign organizers can no longer view donors’ email addresses.)
4. Follow us on social media. We’re @complaintservices on all of them. (But not LinkedIn - Not even we are that twisted!)
5. Next time you need to make a complaint, be as nice as you can; even if you’re mad.

Send words of encouragement or complaints to us at complaintsdepartmentservices (@gmail.com)

We’re sorry, all of our Complaint Representatives are still busy. For your convenience, we will now terminate this call. Have a nice day.
