The Community Music Center of Houston
UPDATE: WE HAVE MET OUR CHALLENGE GRANT GOAL! See today's update (Jan. 14)
(Please see today's update below.) Hello everyone; we are the Community Music Center of Houston (CMCH), a tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting black music traditions. The center offers music lessons, classes, concerts, and other programs celebrating these traditions. The center is committed to making this music accessible to everyone.
CMCH has been a part of the Houston community for forty-three years, since 1979. And we have the nation's second-oldest active Black chamber orchestra.
We need your help.
We were awarded a challenge grant of $84,600. The funding terms require raising an additional $87,800 to receive the challenge grant ($84,600). If we fail to raise the necessary amount of $87,800 by the END OF THE YEAR in total, we forfeit the $84,600 challenge grant. We are 40% of the way there. We need to raise a total of $65,000 with this Gofundme campaign, including the balance of funds required plus fees and expenses levied by Gofundme, Paypal, and marketing efforts.
Please help. Any amount that you can give, large or small, matters.
