Hi, my name is Xavier Gayden — I'm a visual artist, teacher, and community voice based in Kansas City. This September, I’ve been invited to showcase my work at The Black Boy Art Show in Los Angeles, California — and it’s more than just an art show for me.
This is a full-circle moment.
I was born in California but haven’t been back since.
This will be my first time returning to the place I was born, and I’m bringing my art, my story, and my purpose with me.
Why This Trip Matters
This journey is about more than just showcasing my work — it’s about reconnection, healing, and bringing my full self back to my roots. I’ll be collaborating with artists in San Diego and Los Angeles, hosting creative conversations, painting live, and showing up for other Black creatives who—like me—believe in the power of art to transform lives.
I’m calling this a creative homecoming — and I’m inviting you to be a part of it.
