The Cole Academy of Toronto-A New Way To DO School

Hello, I'm Jamie Milroy, Founder and Principal of the brand new, one of a kind school in Toronto. The Cole Academy of Toronto (TCA) is the first ever independent elementary school that teaches the curriculum through the stories and voices of under-represented communities such as 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC. We also offer truly individualized programming, creative expression in all classes, and dedicated weekly Outdoor Education and Forest School. I have many years of teaching and educational leadership experience, and am able to see the need for a safe space such as TCA. Black Lives Matter, Trans Lives Matter, COVID, and other global shifts, reveal the need for the intentional creation of this environment for young people. There are some services out there for High School students, and even more for adults, which is wonderful. But it's not enough. Elementary students are needing a "new" kind of schooling and The Cole Academy is this space.
