The Coal Fired Honeymoon!
Wedding Presents
As many of you are aware, our Honeymoon plan is a little different to most. Esther is a long term fan of the wonderful author Daphne du Maurier, of whom has written much set in Cornwall. Further more the restoration of our Foden Traction Engine is progressing well now that the boiler has returned. Many of you will also know that Esther made an investment of a Brayshaw Showmans Living Wagon 12 months ago that has been tucked away having the various modifications made in readiness for a good trip.
For those that arnt aware of the Honeymoon plan, a steam powered 6 week tour of Exmoor, Dartmoor, Cornwall, and back around South Devon visiting all the places we can from Daphne du Maurier's novels including Jamaica Inn and Frenchmans Creek ❤️
We have no idea what will happen, and when. However what I do know is that if your going to breakdown on a steam engine, Cornwall is probably a good place to do it! There will always be another engine man not far away and we already have folk offering us a place to park for the night which is wonderful and we are so greatful!
Water is easy enough for us to come by. However when it comes to the Coal, not so much! As you will be aware, we have lost our last UK strong hold of Welsh coal supply. Getting hold of the stuff is a tricky game, and expensive at that
Given that we are selling much of our stuff, and downsizing our lives in a big way may we ask folk to consider something different to the traditional Wedding Present ideas???
We would be absolutely honoured if you would wish to purchase, or pledge, or gift steam coal to see us on our way for the Honeymoon?
For every Lump, Bag, Ton, or Pallet of Coal that someone wishes to pledge for, we will paint your name on the Coal that you have provided for us so that we can thank you with a photo as it keeps us moving stately along at our steady pace, and where on the trip we are of course!
So for those pondering about Wedding Present, please feel free to assist us in making out Honeymoon Memorable by helping the bunker of Foden 2027 feel a little less empty, and a little more laden!
