The Claire Daniels Scholarship

Donation protected
On June 4th (2018) Claire became sick with what appeared to be the flu. Four days later, after visiting her doctor two times, in and out of two emergency facilities, Claire ended up at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco in the critical care neurological unit in an induced coma brought on from seizures.

One day later Claire passed at the age of 18.

To this date, we have no explanation regarding this event that crushed our lives in the course of 5 days;  nothing could provide an understanding of how something like this could happen to such a beautiful person.

We began to focus on trying to figure out a way to keep Claire alive and celebrate what was most important to her-- friendships, family and a desire to help young girls become strong, independent, and empowered….just like Claire. Her friends and sisters would like to keep Claire in the present is by starting a Delta Gamma Scholarship in her name. In order to do so, we have to fundraise to get the amount necessary to start an endowment, which is why we are starting a GoFundMe. 100% of all proceeds will go towards The Claire Daniels Scholarship.

Before she left for the University of Arizona last year,  she told her parents she needed to go out early and “find her people”.   And,  from the beginning of rush, the Delta Gamma Sorority was the one!!  The day she received her bid to Delta Gamma was the happiest day of her life!!  Claire sent us a photo of her with the biggest smile and look of joy we have ever seen.  She had found her new home and was embracing it with all she had.  Over the year, her family met and spent  time with Claire’s new sisters.  They thought, “Wow!!  The parents of these girls should be so proud!"

Claire was an amazing friend, and touched us all  with her positive energy and her laughter.  Her connection to friendship is beyond anything you could have ever imagined.

Claire was asked through her life journey storytelling at Cardinal Newman High School her Senior year (2017)… “what advice do you have for others?”  This is what she said,

“I think everyone should have no regrets about their past,
for it has shaped you into who you are in the present.
You only have one life, one shot to focus on what’s important."
