The Chulu ministry fundraiser

Dear friends,
Facebook has enabled us to share our journey with you, as we got married, moved to Zambia to serve God and also the birth of our beautiful daughter Daisy. We have strived to follow the call of God on our life while serving in Chipata, Zambia, where we have settled into a community and seek to share the love of God. How we do this includes a weekly Bible study, helping kids get sponsored and into school, having community meals, and buying bibles as well as food for people around us. We long to continue in our community but have struggled financially for the year and a half that we have been there. A lot of people ask us if or when we will move back to Canada but we continue to answer that we are where we believe God has called us to be. The economy is lagging in Zambia, but we are looking at a buisness plan that can help us to succeed. We have tried different businesses that have failed but we have put together the idea of taxis and believe it would be the answer to our financial struggles. In talking with many people about our idea, we have been given a lot of support and through talking and praying with our pastor here in Waterloo we have decided to put our idea out there and see how God can help us. We believe He is able and so much bigger than we could ever believe. We have chosen the taxi business after talking with drivers in our city and seeing that it would allow us the freedom to work in ministry full time while giving us an income to sustain ourselves and pour out onto others.
We desire to get five taxis on the road in our city of Chipata. The breakdown for that is as follows:
Fundraising goal: $23000
Cars: $18420
Transferring ownerships: $1880
Bringing cars from capitol plus any extra expenses and fundraising fees: $2700
Income per month for five taxis: K9000 or $967
Basic family monthly costs Total: K2775 or $300
Left over: $667
This extra money would enable our family to, have money in emergencies, give Daisy a good education, save money, as well as work on our house and property.
This money would also allow us to keep doing the ministry work that we love to do. It would allow us to buy Bible's that are quite expensive. It would allow us to help people with food, continue having community meals as well as community holiday celebrations, like Christmas and Easter. We would also be able to continue to help school kids along with their sponsors and buy bales of clothes. It will also allow us to start new ministry out reaches.
We believe in God and know He has a good plan for us. Ephesians says that God is able to do more than we could ever imagine or even believe. We are putting out request out and trusting the Lord to do what only He is able to do. We have spent the last year and half truly learning what it means to live in faith and trust in God day to day as we live as missionaries in Zambia. We pray this could be God's answer to help us support our family and help our community as we go back home in November.
