Dear art enthusiasts, fellow artists, colleagues, friends, family, and supporters,
My name is Eduardo José Rubio Parra, I am a young Colombian artist, currently completing a Diploma in Fine Arts at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany.
My work is an extension of the reality I live in, through which I can deeply explore my fascinations, the Latino culture I come from, and how these different aspects of my life come together in the culture I now find myself in. I seek to create an aesthetic that serves as a bridge between the world I grew up in, and the worlds I have gotten to know. By doing this, I seek to expand the world I've been creating for the past six years, in as many different directions as possible. Drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, photography, special effects and make-up, and performance play all an important role in the creation of my world. My artistic interest is dynamic, characterized by the constant exploration of materials and mediums.
For my diploma thesis, I'm creating a book called "The Chopped Off Head Magazine." This book is meant to serve as a bridge between different artists, artistic disciplines, and cultures. I'm raising funds to cover all expenses involved in the development of my project. With this campaign, I seek to reach as many people as possible, who would be willing to support me and my art through their donations.

Currently, I'm studying the medium of books and magazines to create an artwork. Through my artistic practice and investigation, I came to discover within the world of fashion a suitable platform for the presentation of my art - specifically in fashion editorials. The Chopped Off Head Magazine, my first publication, is both a fashion magazine and an artist book. My artistic practice consists of creating objects and characters, which I use as tools to explore the world I grew up in and the world I find myself in right now. As a product of this practice, I create a new world. The artworks featured in the magazine can be seen as doors to parallel realities. All realities together create a world, and this world, compressed into a magazine, is an artwork itself. The fashion editorials are glimpses into these parallel realities. The title of my work was inspired by the thought of me, the artist, chopping my own head off to give the viewer an insight into a world only existing in my mind.
Besides being an artwork, this magazine is the prototype of a publication I would like to work with in the future. Following the same idea, I would like to collaborate with other artists that are also willing to chop their own heads off to give an insight into a world only existing in their minds.
The Chopped of Head Magazine is the biggest and most ambitious project I've worked on. Many works of art were produced specifically for this publication, each one of them involving a significant amount of love, effort, time, and money. I'm also working with an amazing team of young photographers and graphic designers, whose work is indispensable for the fulfillment of my project, and each one of them is being paid for their work. As head of the project and starting independent artist, I'm currently assuming 100% of the costs myself.

Mi nombre es Eduardo José Rubio Parra, soy un joven artista colombiano, actualmente finalizando mis estudios de Bellas Artes en la Universidad Bauhaus en Weimar, Alemania. Para mi tesis de grado, estoy creando un libro llamado The Chopped Off Head Magazine. Con este libro pretendo establecer un enlace entre las diferentes culturas y disciplinas artísticas. Con el fin de recaudar fondos para el desarrollo de este proyecto he creado esta campaña buscando el apoyo de muchas personas que estén dispuestas a colaborar a través de una donación para poder asumir el alto costo en materiales, fotografía, modelos, impresiones y alquiler de espacio para la exposición y todo lo que ello conlleva.

Trabajo con un increíble equipo de jóvenes fotógrafos y diseñadores gráficos indispensables para la realización de mi proyecto y a quienes les debo reconocer económicamente su labor y trabajo. Otra razón más para requerir del apoyo económico. Como responsable del proyecto y artista independiente, actualmente estoy asumiendo el 100% de los costos.
