Running the Chicago Marathon in aid of Jigsaw and Tubber GAA

Both Ian Daly and Grace Buckley will run the gruelling Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 13, 2024 in aid of the Jigsaw young persons charity and Tubber GAA Club in Offaly. All proceeds will be split equally between these two beneficiairies.

Jigsaw provides a free and confidential support service for young people in Ireland. Jigsaw aims to make sure that young people’s voices are heard, and that they get the right support, where and when they need it.

Jigsaw offices provide a welcoming space for young people to make an appointment, get information or have a chat with a support worker. If a young person wants support, Jigsaw staff are there to listen, without making judgements, and to provide supportive guidance. We also provide information and advice to anyone who is worried about a friend or young person in their life. Anyone who would like to make an appointment can ring.

As well as directly helping young people in tough times, Jigsaw want to work towards a community that is supportive of mental health and well being. Presentations and talks in schools, workplaces and community groups aim to open up a discussion on mental health and raise people’s awareness of the support that Jigsaw can offer.

Tubber GAA Club is a small rural GAA club in North Offaly that supports and promotes GAA in the locality. With approximately 150 adult members and 100 junior members, the club is very proud of its sporting and social achievements and interactions within the community since its inception in 1979. It is also proud of the facilities it has built and maintained during that time, which now include a floodlit pitch and changing rooms, fully equipped gymnasium and walking track, as well as a welcoming clubhouse.

Ian and Grace are both former residents of Tubber and went to national school there and retain close links to the area. Ian represented Tubber's first team at Senior B level with distinction for several years.
