The Chesterfield Royal

Hi, my names Beck & I’m Maureen’s gran daughter.

Maureen growing up never had a lot, she was not very fortunate at all. She lost her husband quite early on & she was left with 3 young children. Adamant she was never going to find love again, that she didn’t.

There was plenty of times she’d go without gas and electric during winter months and just wrap up with blankets in freezing conditions.

Her youngest son had various of problems, including a brain tumour removal which didn’t go to plan. He ended up worse than ever. He eventually turned to alcohol & was an alcoholic for 25 years. My gran took care of him until he passed 2 years ago. Throughout all of this, she never once complained and she’d give you her last penny. She really was one in a million.

My granny took ill last Tuesday and ended up having a heart attack in the drs whilst awaiting a medical appointment. 4 doctors gave her CPR and got her stable for the ambulance to come. She spent the day in resuscitation whilst they did various of tests.

She then got transferred onto Manvers ward.

The doctors at the Chesterfield Royal were so good with her. They were patient and caring until the very end.

My gran passed away peacefully the early hours of Thursday 13th June. Unaware until that day, she’d got heart failure, she was in a thyroid coma, she’d got pneumonia on her lungs, two aneurisms on her kidney and kidney failure. Despite all of that she was still making us laugh. Enjoying her favourite drink, lucozade original. My gran was always so very thankful of help she received previously and I know she would want me to give something back to the doctors who tried to save her life.

So please, if you could spare even 50p this will all be donated to the doctors in resuscitation & Manvers ward as a thank you for all they did.
