Chester is a gorgeous and friendly cat that Gilly got from the RSPCA about two years ago when he was just a kitten. He loves exploring his back yard and snuggling with Gilly in bed. He is loved by Gill’s son, and his brother in fur Ambrosias, the family dog.
On Wednesday 27 February he didnt come home, which was unusual for Chester as he stays within calling distance and never misses a meal.
Gill and Finlay had been waking the streets searching for Chester, to no avail, there was no sign of him. On Friday fearing the worst they were heading out to go to the RSPCA to check for him there, when Gill heard a noise. It was Chester who had found the strength to meow loud enough when he heard his family. Gilly pulled him from where he’d been hiding and discovered that he was paralysed and very sick from a suspected snake bite.
Snake bite was confirmed and thankfully the vet has stabilised him and he is on the slow road to recovery, however with vet bills mounting (already they have reached $2600), and with at least one more overnight stay needed to make sure his kidneys starts to function normally again.
Now my beautiful friend Gilly is in the awful situation of having to decide when to draw the line, and that is heartbreaking for her. And I hate seeing that, as she has been such an amazing friend to me, supporting me through tough times, as she does for so many people.
Gilly’s cat is not just a cat to her, he is a member of her family. I’m always getting photos of him in various relaxed poses around the house, and this cat is loved.
Several people have offered to help, so I am starting this Gofundme for Gill because I know it pains her to ask for help, and to accept it.
If you can assist even a little bit it would really make a difference to Gill, and especially to her wayward Chester (who doesn’t realise it now, but he’s now an indoor cat!)
