The Charles Goodman Scholarship Fund
Donation protected
Hi there. My name is Joshua Fisher, and I am the proud grandson of Charles Goodman. Charles passed away on October 18th, 2021 at the ripe young age of 101. Charles was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 24th, 1920. I could go on about what an amazing father, grandfather, and person he was, but there simply is not enough space here.
Charles worked for nearly his entire life, almost literally. He was forced to retire as a Public Safety Officer for Dominican College (Orangeburg, NY) in March of 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. If it were not for those circumstances, Charles would have undoubtedly worked until his passing. He began working at Dominican College when he was 81 years old and retired at 99. Charles loved Dominican College along with the staff, faculty, and students he saw each and every day.
After Charles passed, the family knew there was only one way to truly honor his time on this earth. That is how the Charles Goodman Scholarship Fund at Dominican College came to be. Charles believed so strongly in education and personal achievement. He also felt that everyone who wanted to should have those opportunities. Our fundraising goal is set to a specific number as we hope to establish an endowment. An endowment would offer scholarships to students essentially in perpetuity. There would be no better way to honor Charles.
To be transparent, the only two criteria for a student to receive funds from the Charles Goodman Scholarship fund would be as follows:
1. The student would need to attend Dominican College
2. The student would have to reside in the North Rockland Central School District vicinity.
That is it.
Every penny from this collection will go toward the scholarship fund, and hopefully you can help us achieve our goal. Thank you so much for taking the time to consider honoring Charles and his amazing life.
