Our Website: mhschangefoundation
Our goal is to use micro-financing to grow and support the businesses of refugees who do not have the resources or funds to reach their full business potential, both within our local community and on an international scale.
Your donation would allow us to aid local and international refugees attempting to grow their up-and-coming businesses through the practice of micro-financing.
The Change Foundation was created by Luke White and Graham Watkins in 2016. The foundation loans out small grants of money to local refugees to obtain resources for their individual businesses. The two refugees we are currently working with, Arzoo and Ragheid, have both set up a basis for their businesses with loans from this foundation. Once Luke and Graham graduated in 2018, they entrusted us (Ashley White, Abby Regan, and Hope Freeman), as co-presidents to continue the Change Foundation. This year we have started fundraising, new forums, market applications, and have begun selling Arzoo and Rhagied’s products. With countless hours dedicated to this foundation, we have had the pleasure of engaging in a service that requires both passion and hard work. The best part, however, is meeting with Arzoo and Ragheid and watching them both grow and set goals, which has been both really heartwarming and empowering. By providing them with a stable foundation, we have been able to take their dreams and begin to set them to a reality.
Through this process, both Arzoo and Ragheid have also taught us about their culture and how much of the world there is out there. Everything they have brought to our attention has made us aware of the unnecessary difficulties that many people face. Often refugees are outcasted, they struggle adapting to a new life, and are seen as lesser just because of their language barriers. Each time we have met with them, we are all reminded of how these differences are ones we should celebrate and engage with. In addition, Arzoo and Ragheid also bring a new spice to the table and a new perspective that can be incredibly eye-opening. With a deeper understanding of their old lives and who they are, we appreciate their passions, their cultures, and their love of where they have come from. As we continue to work with each other and these amazing new friends we have gained, our community grows stronger and their goals become more possible to reach. We hope to continue to aid Arzoo and Ragheid along their journeys while also growing other refugee businesses internationally through fundraising and donations.
