$45. That’s all it costs to give a child in Baltimore the chance to dream. That’s all it costs to bring one child out of the city for the day and open that child’s eyes to a whole different world, showing them there’s more to life than what they grew up surrounded by.
For kids in Baltimore, the things that seem little—sinking their toes into the sand of a beach, feeling the rush of an amusement park ride, or giggling as they run around carelessly in a big, open park—are actually huge. They’re opportunities that most kids take for granted, but that kids in Baltimore will remember forever.
Many kids in Baltimore have never left the few block radius of their childhood neighborhood. Baltimore is, quite literally, all they know and all they think they’ll ever know. Their horizons are narrowed and their ability to dream suppressed.
That’s why Elev8 Baltimore, a nonprofit working with under-served youth in the inner city, has created the Chance to Dream Fund. Our goal is that, through this fund, we will be able to bring these seemingly little experiences to kids in Baltimore, providing them with the same joy and smiles that every other kid experiences regularly. We will bus children from some of the toughest neighborhoods in Baltimore out of the city and expose them to new environments and activities where they can feel free to be kids.
For every $45 you donate, one child will be sponsored for one day trip. And thanks to Dream BIG, a foundation created to support youth-focused nonprofits in Baltimore, every donation made will be matched up to the first $50,000. That means each $45 donation will actually sponsor two children for one day trip.
Every child deserves the chance to dream, and with this fund we can make that happen. Thanks for your support!
