Independent film patrons who love to find hidden gems in the horror comedy world - look no further. We're here to scare you, make you laugh, and give you something to remember!
The Cemetery is an independently produced horror/comedy short film. We believe this project will serve as a really fun and creative form of entertainment for viewers, as well as a prime example of the value of independent film making in our society!
The Cemetery provides a unique perspective on classic horror tropes with an unexpected twist - made by passionate Hollywood professionals who have the desire to make something on their own together. We plan for this project to be a launchpad to allow us to create more films together in the future.
The technical goal of this project is to make it look like a professional, studio-level film with a clear artistic vision. We have a skilled crew that we believe is fully capable of delivering on this vision with the proper resources.
Supporting us is direct patronage of independent film and original stories. We will provide consistent updates and developments on the film’s progress.
The filmmakers: Jesse and Blake met each other working on the set of Star Trek: Picard and became good friends very quickly. This led to them working together on many other high budget productions aside from Picard, such as 9-1-1, Chip ‘N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, and the horror comedy, Studio 666. Jesse and Blake share the same sense of humor and the same passion for anything creepy and horror-ish. Their working relationship has grown into a desire to collaborate creatively and make their own projects together. They see this as the perfect time to realize that goal, with the climate of film and TV in LA being at a low point with productions decreasing by the thousands in the past few years. They want to provide a spark and see this project as the first step to something much bigger, and they could not be more excited to bring their vision to life.
For the filmmakers, this project is a step forward. A step forward in our ability to independently bring stories to life. A step forward in our creative potential. And in general, a step forward through adversity - whether that be from the work stoppages, strikes, wildfires, the rise of AI, and just overall disarray that the film industry in LA and all of its workers have been experiencing as of late. For us, there is no alternative, no plan B, story telling is a part of who we are - and we resolve to keep creating and sharing stories!
As mentioned above, it has been extremely hard for Hollywood professionals to endure and persevere through these tough times. Many people have lost not only their jobs, but their homes and their careers. How do we as an industry and a community recover? Stories and escapism have never been more important. We believe it is critical to keep the creative spark in LA alive, and the way we feel it can be done is by going back to the basics through independent filmmaking. Original stories, original voices, and passionate creative collaboration.
We greatly appreciate any and all support!
