Hello! My name is Flannery and for the holiday season I am running my server’s donation drive for the Catopia cat cafe, which is local to me in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Catopia is a small business that brings cats of all ages in from local rescues so they can have a more comfortable temporary home while waiting to be adopted. The cats are able to free roam and interact with the people, which makes them easier to bond with, and they get more properly socialized!

This place adopts cats out like crazy! The cats are comfortable, well fed, and well taken care of. So they are able to be seen at their best, rather than afraid in a cage in a noisy area next to the dog kennels (just for example). All of their cats are adoptable, and people who come into the cafe can interact with them and play with them to their hearts content. It’s hard to visit this place without being swarmed by friendly cats so, as you can imagine, it’s a dream for a cat person.

So, the cafe’s biggest hurdle is of course funding the cats food, toys, medical care, and what have you. The same hurdles that all rescues have. They work very closely with other local businesses and rescues to find these cats the very best homes. And I have, in person, seen how wonderful these kitties are treated. I even have friends who have taken home their best friends from the cafe! So I can vouch that this place is very, very cat centric. They love their kitty cats.
