Gennaro Catino was a humble, happy and generous family man.
“Take it easy,” Gennaro would say, as he bid someone goodbye, and he meant these words as a mantra for life. Gennaro was happy with the simple joys. He loved celebrating life with his family and friends. He loved being outside, hunting and working in his vegetable garden. He loved watching soccer and rooting for AC Milan, Napoli, and the Italian National Team.
Dinner at Gennaro and Yolanda’s house would be a feast of homemade and homegrown food and wine: chicken parmesan with homemade tomato sauce, homemade salame, Gennaro’s famous homemade pizza, stuffed homegrown squash blossoms, all enjoyed with generous pours of Gennaro’s red wine or grappa.
Gennaro passed away on December 23rd, 2020, after a month-long battle against Covid-19. He was checked into the hospital the day after Thanksgiving and his family was never able to say goodbye in person. He is survived by his wife, Yolanda, and their two children, Gennaro and Gabriella.
This fund is set up to help cover the cost of living for Gennaro’s family and future costs of care for Gabriella. Gennaro had been the breadwinner in the family. The family is so grateful from the outpouring of love they have received from the community, and many have wanted to help but did not know how. All funds raised will go directly to Yolanda and any donation, however small or large, will be greatly appreciated.
Take it easy, Gennaro. We love you. You are so missed.
