I never thought I would need to do this, but here we are. And while it’s uncomfortable I’ve come to the realization that sometimes in life, we just need to ask for a little help. That old saying “when it rains, it pours” comes to mind at this time and we could really use the support of family and friends.
For those of you that do not know, Trevor and I have been working very hard over the last several months on purchasing land and a home for our family. And while we are currently very grateful to finally have our home on our land, we are facing a few obstacles before we can move in. Not only has the rainy weather prevented our driveway from being paved on time, the contractor that we hired to drill our well started the job and then never returned to finish. Every well digger we’ve contacted is too busy and can’t get to us for 3 to 8 months. Without these two things completed we cannot get our certificate of occupancy to move into the home that we are currently paying mortgage on. So for the meantime we have been living in our rental and paying both rent and a mortgage. Then a week ago, the transmission in Trevor’s vehicle died, which everyone knows is not a cheap fix, and has added to our financial strain as we are struggling to find the money to have it repaired. So on top of two house payments and a pricey vehicle repair we have been stretched pretty thin but making it work by sharing a vehicle and doing what we can to move the process on our land along swiftly.
However, on Saturday, after a heavy rain, our life was turned upside down when a very large tree fell onto our rental home, destroying the entire roof and forcing us to vacate the property immediately. With two small kids this has not been an easy task. However, We are beyond thankful that everyone in our home was safe from injury and We have been blessed with amazing friends and family who were kind enough to drop what they were doing to aid us in moving our most important and undamaged items into a U-Haul for temporary storage. While insurance will help with these moving expenses, we expect it may take a while to receive reimbursements for the hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars we have had to pay unexpectedly. So for now, we are technically homeless, with no real timeline of when we will be able to move into our forever home.
This is the most stressful time of our entire lives and while we remain upbeat, we simply can’t sustain this situation financially so we are reaching out to our loved ones for help. Any amount that you could give will be greatly appreciated. Donations will go towards the extra expenses that we are paying due to the tree disaster, groceries for our family, gas, vehicle repairs and alternative lodging for an undetermined amount of time. Anyone that cannot or does not feel lead to help financially, we just ask that you say a prayer for our family, that we can navigate this difficult time in positivity. We love you all. Thank you.
