Help Us Expand Australia’s Only Dedicated Canine Museum
The Canine Museum, located at KCC Park in Skye, Melbourne, has reached a truly remarkable milestone — and a pressing challenge. Our museum, a registered charity, holds the largest collections of canine history and memorabilia in Australia. With 98% of our displays generously donated by dog owners, it stands as a living celebration of the bond between people and their dogs.
But we are now completely out of space.
Why We Need Your Help
Our current building is full, and hundreds of incredible items — trophies, artwork, historical documents, collars, equipment, rare breed collections, and more — are sitting in storage because we simply have nowhere to display them. We knew this day would come and have been raising funds over the last few years, however rising costs mean that we need additional funds.
To continue preserving and sharing Australia’s canine heritage, we urgently need to build a major extension that will DOUBLE the size of the museum. This will allow us to:
• Display our full collection instead of storing it away
• Create room for future donations and growth
• Improve visitor experience with better layout and accessibility
• Install new fixtures, lighting, display cases, and fittings
How Your Donation Helps
Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
• Building costs for the new museum extension
• Fixtures and fittings needed to safely and professionally display items
As a registered charity, all donations are tax-deductible in Australia.
A Museum Built by Dog Lovers, for Dog Lovers
The Canine Museum exists because of the generosity of the dog community. Almost every item you see in the museum has been gifted by dog owners who want Australia’s canine history preserved for future generations.
Now we’re asking for your help — not for collections, but for the space to protect and share them. We have council approval for the build and are nearly ready to begin the build.
Please Support the Expansion
No donation is too small. Every contribution takes us one step closer to opening the doors of a larger, better-equipped, more accessible museum for all dog lovers.
If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign with others who love dogs makes a huge difference.
Thank you for helping us honour the dogs and dog people who shaped Australia’s history.
