The Cancer Returns: Peter Dixon's Ongoing Fight

Just When We Thought Cancer Had Lost...

… it reared its ugly head.

Except this time, it’s come back with a vengeance. One that seems furious that we had its back against the ropes, and it’s come at Peter and his family throwing everything it can at them.

Here are Peter’s words of what’s transpired over the past few months:

- Completed RPLND surgery in August, and after a month of complications, it finally looked like I was cancer free. There was less than a 1% chance of a cancer recurrence.

- Got back to work and normal life for the past four months.

- A month ago, I started getting bad continual headaches. A week after that I started having stomach pains. A few days after that I noticed I had some lymph nodes in my hip that were swollen.

- I emailed my doctor and he told me to get blood work done. Blood work came back a little high for cancer levels. He sent me in for a CT scan. The results of that were terrible. I have at least 8-9 large tumors, the largest being over 2.5 inches in my abdominal cavity.

- The day the doctor got my results, he wanted me in the ER the same day. The tumors were affecting my kidneys because they were smashing the vein between my kidney and bladder, not allowing blood to flow freely. The next day they got my in for surgery to put two stents in to allow my kidneys to function properly.

- The doctors do not think this cancer is teratoma (although the last time it was 90% and 95% teratoma). They believe it can be treated with chemo. I am starting 9 weeks of chemo treatment, beginning Feb. 19th.

- My fear is that this cancer is teratoma, which can't be treated with chemo, and that during the 9 weeks the cancer will continue to grow larger and larger.

Here’s the skinny:

Peter and his lovely family need our help. Adding insult to injury, this ugly cancer will force Peter out of work for the next several months, leaving the family in a very difficult financial situation.

There are 3 things you can do today to help make a positive difference for the Dixons:

1. Share this link. Share it with as many people as you possibly can.

2. Pray like mad. Pray that the Dixons will experience the blessing of healing, of community, and of the support of all of their family and friends (and future friends like you who may not know them personally but know their struggle).

3. Donate, donate, donate. Even if it’s a little bit, a whole lot of us doing a little will make a real impact.

We’re confident that Peter’s story isn’t over yet. We know that all of us will enjoy the privilege of sharing in his journey as he continues to fight this ugly villain.

And we can’t thank you enough for your prayers, for your sharing this story, and for your financial donations.

Let’s join this fight together, and we’ll raise a glass on the other side of this!

Please continue to check this site for updates on Peter’s progress.

Wishing blessings on all of you...
