Hi My name is Johanna Akweenda, a Namibian Chartered Accountant by profession based in London. I’ve got an avid love for sports (Boxing , Running, Karate, Pilates, Netball and Hockey to be exact) - maybe even an adrenaline junkie.

Over the years I have recognised my privilege, the privilege that is of being healthy and able bodied to partake in various sports where others may not be.

I will be running TCS London marathon on 27 April 2025 to raise funds for the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN). CAN aims to fight cancer and it’s consequences for the benefit of all Namibian by supporting research; health and information; care and support services.

Having lost close family members who fought the good fight but lost the battle to cancer. I’ve seen and experienced first hand, and continue to see the effects cancer has on household and families - financially, emotionally and physically.

So for that reason I’ve chosen to roll up my socks and run the marathon in memory of those I’ve loved and lost, and the many cancer warriors in Namibia.

Your contributions and donations are welcomed and will go a long way towards the fight against cancer and raising awareness in Namibia.
