"The Butterfly": An Independent Martial Arts Film

THE STORY:

Liam "The Butterfly" Marshall is a kickboxer who moonlights as a gang member for his uncle, Henry "Sharkie" Chapman. Henry is set to be released from prison soon, and he wants to reclaim control of the gang's criminal activities. Liam has always had a strained relationship with his uncle, as Henry's arrest during a kickboxing match led to their animosity.

Despite his criminal activities, Liam's main priority is kickboxing and his family, especially his son who idolizes him. However, when Liam is attacked and tortured by his uncle's men, he realizes the danger his family is in.

Henry gives Liam an ultimatum - participate in one last heist or risk his family's safety. Reluctantly, Liam agrees to the heist, but he knows he must find a way to save his life and his family.

At the same time he must win his last title match to show his son what is truly in his father's heart, despite the mistakes of a lifetime.

An exciting cast of acting talents led by James "The Dragon" Turner - IKTA International Kickboxing Champion - in his first leading role.

JAMES TURNER BIOGRAPHY:

James "The Dragon" Turner is the current IKTA European Light Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion. As well as being an active International Kickboxing Champion, James is an in-demand Kickboxing instructor, having co-authored the critically acclaimed book Full Contact Kickboxing: A Complete Guide To Training And Strategies with Andy Dumas, and being a regular featured seminar instructor at the UK Martial Arts Show, the biggest martial arts expo in the UK.

As a film actor, James made his feature film debut in acclaimed filmmaker Dean Meadows' 2024 horror epic Dracula: Rise Of The Vampire. James has studied the craft of film acting with his good friend and the founder of the T.O.P. System of Acting, the legendary Nick Mancuso.

James holds Black Belts (or equivalents) in several martial arts, including a Black Belt in Kickboxing, as certified by legendary World Champion Massimo Brizi. As well as training extensively with Master Brizi, James has spent considerable time working with his friends, American Kickboxing legends Don "The Dragon" Wilson and Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, and British legend Jason Vassallo.

James has been recognized numerous times in the UK Martial Arts Hall Of Fame, including in 2023, when he was presented with the Legend In The Martial Arts Award.

James is recognised as an ambassador for the sport of Full Contact Kickboxing, and is proudly sponsored by Combat Clothing, whom James endorses as the brand of choice for the sport’s attire and protective equipment.

James graduated from college with a National Diploma in Acting, and went on to achieve a BSc (Hons) Degree in Sport, Health & Exercise Science from Cornwall College Camborne Sport, in association with Plymouth University.

DEAN MEADOWS BIOGRAPHY:

Dean Meadows is a multi-award-winning filmmaker and former magazine writer, editor, publisher, and cult film historian.

Dean’s first film, ‘Scarlett Cross: Agents Of D.E.A.T.H.’ (2022) has played as ‘Official Selection’ at 19 Film Festivals around the world, including the L.A. Sci-Fi and Horror Film Festival, the Birmingham Film Festival UK, and the prestigious 10th anniversary event of the Urban Action Showcase in Times Square, New York where it won two awards including Best Feature Film in the Angels of Action category, (representing Women in Martial Arts and Action,) and also Best Weapons Sequence. The film has picked up 11 awards to date, including several wins for Best Film and Best Director, receiving ‘Honourable Mention’ at an additional 5 events with the Director receiving an award for 'excellence and service to the Entertainment Industry'.

Dean most recently worked as Writer/Director and Actor on the forthcoming Action/Horror movie, ‘Dracula: Rise Of The Vampire’, and as both Editor and Associate Producer on the Action/Sci-Fi film, ‘In Tenebras: Into The Darkness’ which was released Blu-Ray/DVD and streaming sites across the US on 1st October 2024.

PETER JAKESON BIOGRAPHY:

Peter Jakeson has, within the last year, been in "Day One", an awareness film for a charity of that name. He played the father of a traffic accident victim.

He played Rook in "The Take": the controller of a special agent in Paris. This was a multi award winning short film at the Cannes Film festival.

He also starred in a moving tale called "The Miner's Boy" where he was a strict father called John Taylor..

He starred in "The Hit" as a gangster called Edward Blakewell. Another award winning short film.

He played the father of the main character, who gets wrapped up in drugs. Release date is 30th November 2024.

Also he played Dracula in "Dracula - Rise of the vampire" A feature film currently in post production directed by Dean Meadows.

And most recently he was a creepy character called Roger in "Silver Water", currently in post production.

MATTEO SCARFO' BIOGRAPHY:

Matteo Scarfò is an Italian director.

In 2009, he worked as a boom operator on The Last Gamble, an American film shot in New York and New Jersey, starring John Savage, Nick Mancuso, Ray Abruzzo, Sally Kirkland and Steven Bauer, directed by Joe Goodavage; then he worked in Toronto as an assistant on an action film called Death Warrior, directed by Bill Corcoran. Later in 2009, Matteo Scarfò also wrote, produced and directed a docudrama called "Anna, Teresa e le Resistenti" (Anna, Teresa and Resistants), inspired by the life of the famous italian actress and Academy Award Winner Anna Magnani.

In 2013, Matteo's first play, Mare di Pietra (Sea of Stones), made its debut in Rome. This play dealt with very dramatic life stories from the perspective of people who have passed away. In 2014, he along with director Giampaolo Abbiezzi (aka Joe Verni) wrote the story of the film Stalking Eva, released in theaters in 2015 by Rai Cinema. The film is a thriller with esoteric overtones that deals with the topic of violence against women.

In 2015, he directed the docudrama Bomb! Burning Fantasy, inspired by the life and the work of Gregory Corso, one of the most important poets of the Beat Generation, portrayed by Nick Mancuso for which he won Best Actor at Rosarito Film Festival in 2016.

In 2016, Scarfò directed his feature film L'ultimo sole della notte (The Last Sun of the Night), a dystopian science fiction story inspired by the work of the British novelist James Ballard, released in Asia and Italy. In November 2017, L'ultimo sole della notte was a recipient of 4 Outstanding Achievement Awards (Cinematography, Editing, Supporting Actor, and Supporting Actress) and a finalist (Narrative Features category) in Calcutta International Cult Film Festival, in India, and four Silver Awards (Narrative Features, Music Score, Best Director, and Best Actor categories) in Virgin Spring Cinefest, in India.

In 2019, he directed an episode of the collective film Ten Commandments of Horror by Davide Pesca and Francesco Longo. The episode is titled Thou Shalt Sanctify the Holy Day, written by Mattia De Pascali as part of a horror re-reading of the Ten Commandments. Filming started in July 2019 near Rome.

Also Scarfò wrote and directed the sci-fi short Pale Blue Dot - A tale of two stargazers, a retelling of Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, which was produced by his company ScarFord in collaboration with Francesco De Laurentiis and Joe Verni. The short film deals with robotic consciousness, colonization of other worlds, interstellar journeys and environmental disasters.

In 2021, Anita al buio (Anita in the dark), a new play Scarfò co-wrote with actress Priscilla Muscat, was published by La Mongolfiera Editrice.

He has just finished filming his new science fiction feature film, Zero Existence. The release is scheduled for the end of 2024.

LA STORIA:
