Hello! We are the team behind a short film titled The Butcher, a project that we have been developing for nearly two years. We would love your help getting us to the finish line!
My name is Olivia, I’m working on this project as the writer and director alongside our extremely talented cinematographer, Bella, and the glue that is holding this project together/production coordinator, Amy.
The Butcher is the story of Honey, a young wife making the harrowing decision to choose her survival over her abusers with the help of another woman, the butcher.
With the generous support of Sask Arts, we are now looking to secure an additional $5000 to cover the costs of post-production. With your help we will be one step closer to reaching this goal to pay our post production crew fairly for their talent, time, and effort.
We are in search of funding to secure:
- picture edit
- sound mixing
- colour grading
- Soundtrack recording
- Film festival submission fees
Our mission is to create a film that invokes important conversations about abuse without ever depicting physical violence on screen. Instead, we focus on who the protagonist is and how getting help from a woman that listens (even in dire contexts) is the key to survival. We aim to take the power away from violence and show strength in what comes after.
As we have gone through our pre-production phase we have already had the privilege of connecting with people and listening to their experiences with domestic violence. We can already see that these stories create conversations and these conversations matter.
Please help us complete this film and take this message to festivals across the country!
