The Burry Family

Donation protected
On Thursday, September 7th, Darryl and Kim Burry received a terrible phone call at their home in Edmonton. Their 19-year-old daughter, Sydney, had been in an accident, had suffered a traumatic brain injury, and was on life support at Kelowna General Hospital.

They raced to be by her side, leaving their other three children – Cole, twin sisters Kenya and Peyton – behind.

Since their arrival in Kelowna on Friday, September 8th, they've been staying by Sydney's bedside as her medical team works hard to assess, stabilize and treat the injury to her brain. Her condition is day-to-day, with some glimmers of progress and some heart-breaking setbacks.

This journey will be weeks, perhaps months, and the Burrys will be displaced from their home and their jobs, and separated from Sydney's brother and sisters, throughout this time.

The Burry Family needs our help – to cover accommodation expenses, meals, and to try bringing their children from Edmonton to Kelowna to join them.

While Kelowna isn't their home anymore, they left a legacy of caring and generosity in the community through their tireless work with The Salvation Army. They have advocated for those in the community who struggle with daily life, and invested their time and love during their time as Pastors at the church. Now is the perfect time to return their generosity and kindness. Please consider making a donation and support the family during this difficult time.

Thank you.

PS A MealTrain was started for Darryl and Kim and the response has been overwhelming, and very much appreciated. If you would like to show your support by providing a lunch or dinner, you can do so here .
