Hi, my name is Marie Coyne,

I am from Inishbofin Island, Co. Galway and I grew up here.

I started the first museum on the Island of Inishbofin in 1998.

In 2014 the building was flooded during the worst storm in history. In the past few years the contents were moved to storage as the building became unsuitable for conserving the many valuable artefacts that I have managed to amass over many years. Old objects of cultural value unique to the islands of Inishbofin and Inishark.

I have collected a huge archive of written material and photographs dating back centuries. Currently my home and family sheds are overflowing with objects and written material which require an environmentally controlled building to protect these invaluable and vulnerable items from the elements. Objects are as diverse as marine objects, musket balls, manuscripts, 18th century manuscripts, farming implements, early 19th century photographs of inhabitants of both islands, hand written archives etc.

This vast archive and collection urgently requires a modern environmentally controlled building that will protect the items. The building will include a repair workshop where artefacts can be repaired and cleaned by trained personnel.
