Buchner Family and Bill Buchner Knives
Donation protected
Bill and Kendra lived on Moore Hill Lane, east of Roseburg, for over 37 years and raised their children there. Sadly, their home was completely destroyed by the Archie Creek Fire. Their home has been a sanctuary for frequent gatherings with the family. Bill’s shop for his business, Bill Buchner Knives, was also at their home. They were given very short notice to leave as the fire spread so quickly. Bill has been in Missouri taking care of family and was unable to help while his wife was evacuated from their home. Their son Ed, son-in-law Kirby, and family friend Jack were able to get to the hill in time to help Kendra evacuate. Helping the last residents to safety, they narrowly escaped the fire. There was no time to evacuate the shop and all of Bill's tools are gone. Decades of memories, tools, and supplies, gone. Bill has been teaching his kids and grandkids his craft over the years and it is a tradition deeply ingrained in the Buchner family.
The other place that Bill and Kendra call home is the Oregon Country Fair. For over 40 years Bill has looked forward to seeing fair family and sharing his love of ironwork. This year has already been difficult with the fair being canceled due to the pandemic. It is unimaginable for the Buchners to not be able to be a part of the Country Fair after this.
This is a devastating loss that could be the end of Bill Buchner Knives. This has been more than just a livelihood. It is a way of life for the Buchner family. While their kids and family are working hard to make sure they have immediate needs met, we are asking for your help to rebuild from the ashes and forge a bright future for Bill Buchner Knives and the Buchner family. The Buchners are the most kind and caring people and anything you can give is deeply appreciated.
