❁ Help Launch the Brentry Wood Project: A Sanctuary for Wildlife & Community ✿
Hello! For those who don't know, I am currently studying Wildlife Ecology & Conservation Science at UWE Bristol. When we first moved to Bristol, I wandered into the woodland behind our home in Brentry and was immediately struck by its wildness and beauty. Since then, I’ve spent months observing the wildlife there, spotting over 30 species of birds, bats at dusk, foxes passing through the undergrowth, an abundance of flora, and much much more!!
But when I started researching it, I was surprised to learn that this large, vibrant woodland isn’t officially recognised. It doesn’t even have a name. That’s when Brentry Wood was born! And I knew I wanted to dedicate my final year in Bristol to something that truly matters: sharing the incredible wildlife of this woodland with the community and creating opportunities for everyone to get involved in protecting, enhancing, and celebrating it together.
With support from the landowner and my local ward councillor, I am launching the Brentry Wood Project: a year-long, community-led initiative to enhance the woodland for wildlife whilst connecting people with nature through free events, gentle conservation, and citizen science.
This fundraiser is simply to help get it off the ground: for start-up supplies and event resources. Every donation goes directly into launching the project and bringing this woodland back to life as a place of biodiversity and belonging for both wildlife and community.
If you believe in the power of local green spaces, please consider supporting or sharing. And if you’re local, come join us!!
Thank you x
