Imagine being told there is nothing more that can be done for your child.
Imagine sitting across from a doctor, holding your breath, hoping for another option… another treatment… another fight.
And instead being told that treatment is no longer possible.
That the tumour has grown.
That time is now precious.
That the focus must turn to comfort, love, and making the most of every moment left.
This is the reality facing Todd and his family.
Todd is just 8 years old.
When he was only 3, Todd was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare muscle cancer. He endured endless rounds of chemotherapy, radiotherapy in Manchester, hospital stays, needles, scans, things no small child should ever have to face.
And somehow, through strength no one can explain, Todd beat it.
He rang the bell.
He went back to school.
He became a normal little boy again.
Everyone believed that chapter was closed.
But cancer came back, cruelly, unfairly, and without mercy.
Todd has now been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a bone cancer. Doctors believe this has been caused by the very radiotherapy that once saved his life. A tumour began growing in his jaw, right at the edge of where he previously received treatment.
He has fought again.
He has endured more.
But his most recent scan has shown devastating news.
The tumour has grown by 50% in a very short space of time.
Surgery is no longer an option.
Treatment will not help.
Todd has now been referred to the palliative care team.
This morning, Todd’s dad did what no parent should ever have to do, he asked his little boy if he’d like a holiday.
Todd didn’t hesitate.
He said he would love to go to America.
He wants to visit Disneyland.
He wants to see the magic.
At Wheels for Wishes, we have ridden for Todd twice already, helping raise funds for memory-making days, special moments, and smiles in the middle of the unimaginable. Todd and his family have become incredibly close to our hearts.
Now, we are asking for help again… because this dream matters.
This is no longer about treatment.
This is about time.
About memories.
About giving a little boy something magical to hold onto, and giving his family moments they can treasure forever.
