Help the Brauns Recover From Fay Luther Landslide

On Thursday, August 4th, 2022, a wall of mud and debris slid from the mountain above Casey and Larry Braun’s residence off Foothill Road near Fay Canyon. The earth enveloped their home, shop, and fifth wheel without warning. Because insurance does not cover landslides, we started this GoFund Me account a few days after this disaster to support these long-time locals through this challenging time. Please give what you can and help us spread the word. All proceeds will go directly to Casey and Larry Braun.

UPDATE: Casey and Larry have removed over 2000 yards of decomposed granite (DG) from their property with the generous help of friends and neighbors with earth-moving equipment. There is still much more dirt to be removed before they can even think about returning to their home, which is still red-tagged. Some sheetrock needs to be replaced, flooring needs to be redone, and appliances destroyed by the landslide need to be replaced. They are waiting on Alpine County engineers to survey and assess the damage, as well as the Forest Service to advise on the future stability of the mountain.
