The Brand Family needs us!

Hi friends of the Brand Family and beyond,

Back in April, Mitchell Brand was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. He is a senior at Chippewa Valley High school in Clinton Twp., MI. He is 17 years old, and he is also on their Varsity Baseball team. He’s a great kid, who is down to Earth and truly one of the kindest boys I’ve ever met. He has patience and really goes out of his way for the younger kids. I say this from experience as his neighbor! He swooped my son under his wings even before his diagnosis.

His Osteosarcoma diagnosis came with a rigorous chemotherapy schedule and finally in August he got a total knee replacement. The cancer was finally removed from his body! He was healing well with his knee replacement, but the doctors did see a spot on his lung that they wanted to biopsy to rule out any further cancer. The lung biopsy was done November 16th. He rocked it! He came home from the hospital and contracted COVID! As if he hadn’t been through enough, he battled that like a champ too!

The family finally had a moment to spend together and enjoyed some time away. While away, Mitchell developed a fever. He remained in bed the entire time and thankfully, they made it to his hospital just in time and there he was admitted into the ICU with septic shock. They started him on a Bipap therapy and quickly moved to sedation and intubation because the infection was so bad. They did a risky surgery immediately and were able to clean up the infection site (his knee replacement). He has been intubated since December 16th. He is slowly moving in the right direction; however, the road ahead is so long. Mitchell has the best family around. His Mom & Dad have not left his side. He has 4 sisters who just want their baby brother healthy and well!

The reason for this Go Fund Me is simply to alleviate the financial burden that is happening now that he’s in the ICU. His parents are not working while they support him and as you can imagine the hospital bills will be HUGE. I have received permission from his family, and they will be the recipients of any money raised.
