Most of our friends and family know, but in case you're not following along, the love of my life has a pretty sizable tumor in his head. Before anyone panics, there's a VERY small chance it's cancerous. The downside is (as you can see in the picture), the tumour is pretty substantial and pressing on his brainstem. Because of the placement, the doctors right now are giving him their best guess to what it is. What we think we know is: it's probably an acoustic neuroma, it might be cystic, and it's unlikely malignant. What we do know is that it's causing David a whole lot of trouble. David's hearing on his left side is almost non-existent, and there's very little hope that it will come back. Right now, his balance is pretty bad. Because of the pressure on his brainstem, he has almost constant throbbing headaches.
The good news here is that he can be fixed. His hearing will suffer, and post op will probably be pretty rough. But, David gets a 6 week vacation! The bad news is that this tumor is gonna need a pretty serious (and seriously expensive) operation. His surgery date is May 29th and we could really use some help. I'm probably gonna need to take some extra time off to help him get around after he's out of the hospital. We can pay the bills, but I'm asking for help to cover some of the surgery cost. Luckily, my boyfriend landed a wonderful job with insurance, but this surgery is going to be life-changingly costly. Any help he can get will go miles. And I'll be forever grateful that he has people in his life who care so much.
P.s. I'm going to try and bake thank yous for whoever donates! :)
