THE BORSODY TWINS EDUCATION FUND
Donation protected
My name is Jeff, and I am the middle school Mathematics teacher at a parochial school in Las Vegas, Nevada. I created this campaign to help two of my now former students who are in need of additional funds to continue their education. I was recently informed that both twins Chana and Yitzy have qualified for the highest scholarship available to attend their Jewish highschool which will provide many opportunities for their future. This scholarship they received provides the majority of their tuition, but $12,200 still remains for them to be able to attend school their freshman year. This amount needs to be acquired before August 5th, 2020. Based on their annual scholarship status, for their four years of education, it will cost the family a total of $48,800 over the next four years to make the twin’s dream of attending this school a reality. Unfortunately, their family won’t be able to pay the remaining balance which will result in them not being able to attend this school of opportunity. The family would’ve needed a full-ride scholarship for the twins to attend this school.
I have taught both of them for the past 4 years and will stop at nothing to help get Chana and Yitzy into this school. These two children are exactly what this world needs. They are both compassionate, mature, kind, hard-working, helpful, and incredibly thoughtful people. If you could meet these two, your heart would melt for them. I know my wife’s and mine have. It would be a shame if these kids do not get their best shot because of financial hardship.
These 14-year-old twins have unfortunately gone through more sorrow and hardships than I have ever experienced in my entire life. Here are their stories:
Their mother became a single mom after a divorce, which caused her and her family to be forced to move out of California to Nevada because the cost of living was too high. She worked as a Hospice nurse for 13 years, but shortly after her move with her 4 children to Las Vegas, her health condition physically and mentally diminished. Chana and Yitzy’s single mother was suffering, and due to her disability, she could no longer hold down a job to support her young children. The family was not surviving yet Chana and Yitzy remained optimistic and resilient through all of their struggles.
The 5 of them were evicted from the house they were renting because the rent and all other bills could not be paid. She and her 4 children had to split up and stay at different friends’ houses. She explained to me, “I had gone from being a successful hospice nurse to being homeless. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. I was a single mom, with four beautiful, healthy kids, going to be on the street. It was horrifying.”
When she became newly disabled, she was constantly in and out of the hospital for extended periods, leaving the twins both motherless and fatherless for several months at a time. Yitzy and Chana continued to attend middle school even through all this. I saw these children weekly, and I never would’ve known that this was the situation they were dealing with on a daily basis, because they always had amazingly positive attitudes and were successful in school. Luckily, they were able to visit their mother daily.
If it wasn’t for the generosity of others like you, they would not be able to even attend school. Please find it in your hearts to consider making a donation, any amount helps, to support the education of the Borsody twins now and in the future. All money from this campaign will be going directly towards the Adelson School tuition needed to continue their education.
Thank you for helping to make a difference in their lives and giving them this chance to succeed!
