Help for The Bochek Family
Donation protected

Hey everyone my name is Junnigha and I am creating this go fund me on behalf of my friends Ariel and Andrew for their son Alex. They have been going through a ton over the last couple years but even more over the last couple weeks. Their detailed story is below. They are both off work right now to be at the hospital with their son, unfortunately that means bills are piling up and it also means leaving their 2 daughters with family during this scary time. Please consider donating or sharing this go fund me to get it around on behalf of this amazing family who would do anything for anyone.
Message from Alex’s mom:
Hello, my name is Ariel Bochek and this is my son, Alexander Bochek. Alex is the silliest, sweetest 5 year old boy in my life. I appreciate you taking the time to read his story.
Shortly after Alexander's 4th Birthday I started to notice strange behaviour that lead me to believe he was having absence seizures. After many months of pursuing help to find out what these episodes were, it was revealed shortly after his 5th birthday, that Alex suffers from Generalized Epilepsy.
Generalized epilepsy is a type of Epilepsy where seizures stem from and affect both sides of the brain. This can cause loss of consciousness, muscle spasms, memory and learning difficulties and more. Generalized seizures can include various types, such as tonic-clonic (formally referred to as “Grand-Mal” )absence, atonic, and myoclonic seizures.
Due to this diagnosis, Alex has spent more time on the inside of a hospital or Dr's office, than most adults I know. He has been poked and prodded more times than any child his age should have to, and gone through many tests to find anything that may help determine a treatment plan. He has tried so many combinations of medications I can no longer count them, and so far nothing has helped. He spends most days feeling nauseated and exhausted.
Which brings us to now. During what was originally supposed to be a brief monitoring appointment at the childrens hospital in Saskatoon, turned into a much longer stay. After pushing a new medication to try to reduce his immense daily seizure load, he had an adverse reaction causing him to become disoriented, afraid, and lead to hours of increasingly dangerous seizures before rescue meds were administered twice to give his body and brain a rest. Truly an experience no parent ever wants to see their child endure.
With no new answers, our family is now waiting for another round of tests and an MRI to try to find any answers that may help our little boy. We are scared, we are tired, and we are at the point of needing to ask for help.
We would give anything for our children to keep them feeling safe and healthy. At the end of the day, bills still need to be paid, our other children need care and needs met. A small out of town stay has turned into an undefined amount of time away from our home town, away from our other children and our beloved pets.
We graciously ask for donations to go towards Alexander's accumulating medical expenses, this is an incredibly difficult ask for us, my heart lies with helping others, it's hard to ask for help back. Any donation is deeply appreciated and helpful, as well as simply sharing his story with your friends and family.
Thank you for reading!
