The Blue Bracelet Project
Hello. My name is Karianne Soulsby. I am a Mom of two girls, a hard-working Pastry Chef and a fellow American who is deeply concerned that our country is slipping away.
I started The Blue Bracelet Project because I feel powerless. Powerless to change the decisions being made in Washington DC on behalf of us—of me—tearing families apart at the border, end-running Congress to fund the construction of a wall by diverting needed funds from our military, repealing health care for millions of Americans, continuing to defund all important social programs, etc. I always vote, but I just cannot wait until the election to do something...
Historically, I was not all that political. I went about my business with family, life, work and never paid much attention. However, my activism started when our country—my country—began locking babies up in cages. I had to do something…
But what can I do? Like everyone I work crazy hours so I don’t have any meaningful time to dedicate to protests, I don’t have any money to wield any power with anyone and I feel helpless, voiceless.
I was listening to a radio program that said to “call your Congressman!” “Great idea! I’ll do it!” —but how? I had no idea how to get in touch with my congressional representatives. After a little digging I found the number to the U.S. Capital switchboard and made my first call. Remarkably I got through to an actual human being in no time at all! I figured I was not the only person who didn't know what number to call... Thus, The Blue Bracelet Project was born.
The idea is simple. We receive donations to produce blue bracelets that have the U.S. Capital switchboard number on them. We mail them to “Ambassadors” who pledge to distribute them to encourage others to participate in our democracy, free of charge. That’s it.
**This is non-partisan. All of our voices need to be heard. **
I wear my bracelet all the time. It serves as a reminder to me that I have an obligation to participate in our Democracy. As Benjamin Franklin once noted-- “We have a Republic, if we can keep it.”
Can we keep our Republic?
Give it a try! Please go to our website: www.bluebraceletproject.com and become an Ambassador. If you think this is a good idea? Donate so more folks can remind themselves they need to participate in our governance.
Please note that 100% of all donations received will be used entirely for the production and distribution of blue bracelets and the maintenance of the website. Everyone working on The Blue Bracelet Project is donating their time and receives no salary or stipend.
Thank you!
