Hi everyone i will be walking the length of 7 mile beach in Negril Jamaica on the 19th of June 24 ,to raise money and awareness of Bradbourne Group Riding for the Disabled and every donation will help.
my name is khianna and I’m 15 .
In March 2016 I was diagnosed with leukaemia aged 7 , I began a long course of chemotherapy that ended in August 2018 , 3 weeks after I had rang the end of treatment bell I had relapsed which resulted in more chemotherapy and I had radiotherapy and on the 15th February 2019 I received my bone marrow transplant
Spending 5 months in hospital.
After my treatment life returned to a “sort of normal “ and I started year 7 , but on the 1st of March 2020 I woke up and wasn’t able to walk, my family took me to kings college hospital ( where I had been a patient when I had cancer) within days I was paralysed from the neck down and completely blind, I had a mri scan which diagnosed that I had neuromyelitis optical- inflammation of the spinal cord and optical nerve.
my Nan and I spent the whole Covid lockdown in hospital together 9 months in all , about 12 weeks into us being there, my Nan was taken to a room and told I would probably not walk again, my Nan didn’t tell me because she believed I would, and didn’t want me to stop believing I could,
i got home in the November 2020 , but on the 31st of December I got Covid and was intubated for 22 days .
I know what you must all be thinking, how many times can this child dodge death, well I did and it made me even stronger, that was my 3rd and last time dodging
im now walking and had never rode a horse before because of the cancer,
I joined Bradboure RDA in November 2021 and in May 2022 I entered my first regional dressage test coming first in my class
and went on to win at the national championship
Without Bradboure RDA I would not only live in a dark place physically but my mental health would be a dark place to ,
I love being with the horses and the people who help out.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
