The Blessings of Standing & Walking

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There are two blessings which many people waste: HEALTH and free time.” (Bukhari)
Last year, Allah tested me with one of the greatest trials I’ve ever experienced. I had been struggling with back pain for about a year but it suddenly took a serious turn. For three days, I could not stand or walk. I was crawling to the bathroom.
At my lowest point during this trial, I remembered the plight of Prophet Yunus alayhi as salaam. As we all know, Prophet Yunus was swallowed by a whale and enveloped by three layers of darkness; the darkness of the belly’s whale, the darkness of the ocean and the darkness of the night. In that moment of such difficulty, Prophet Yunus alayhi as salaam called upon His Lord, “There is no God worthy of worship except You. Glory be to You! I have certainly done wrong” (21:87). As Allah Azza wa Jal delivered this amazing Prophet of his distress, I too was delivered of my distress. I woke up the next morning for Fajr Salah and to my astonishment, I was able to stand and walk to the bathroom, a MIRACLE indeed. All praise and thanks are due to Allah Ta’aala.
Thousands of miles away, in my native country of Somalia, I have a family member who is suffering from the same debilitating condition. She suddenly lost the ability to stand and walk this summer. She has been crawling since with little to no hope of recovery.
On the authority of Abu Hamzah Anas bin Malik, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him said: “None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself.” [Al-Bukhari, Muslim]
We are her hope. At the tender age of 27 years, we have the opportunity, by Allah’s leave, to facilitate a life of health and happiness for our dear sister. This is where you come in. Our sister needs emergency surgery to regain her health or else she may be crippled permanently. This type of surgery is not available in Somalia and she will need to go to Turkey as soon as possible. I can not turn my back because I know, first hand, what it’s like to lose such a critical blessing. Yesterday it was me, today it’s my family member, tomorrow it may be you. I ask Allah to protect you always!
Please reach deep into your pocket books and give with the certainty that Allah will return your generosity with increased blessings. We are in the sacred month of Muharram in which the reward of the good deeds is multiplied. Let us take advantage and relieve our sister of her difficulty. May Allah relieve you!
Please note that this campaign is Zakat ul Maal eligible. Please consider putting your Zakat towards this virtuous cause. Your generous donations and sharing of this campaign are greatly appreciated.
Jazakum Allahu khairan!
Regards,
Nimao
