Bistro Pact - Short Film

George B. Kelly is organizing this fundraiser.

Welcome to “Bistro Pact”, my independent 15-minute short graduate film school project.

“Bistro Pact” is a story of how much life can change in unexpected ways over time, but also quite suddenly, despite the best intentions of the people involved. It’s an exploration of the relationship between Brett and Maggie, lovers separated by 5 years and 3,000 miles, and how their expectations have evolved. Even as they seem to find a compromise that works for the present, life suddenly changes everything for both of them.

“Bistro Pact” is not a romance. It is not a tragedy. We hope you will recognize it from your own experience as how time brings changes both expected and surprising, which ultimately allows us to grow into our individual humanity.

I am returning to graduate school to finish my MFA after a long professional career as a director with the goal to eventually teach film myself.

I need to learn about working with students, so I launched this student film production as an Independent Project, with the express purpose of creating a professional-level production, where students and entry-level craftspeople could work on a smoothly-running and relaxed production of a well-crafted film. A Real-World project to give myself and my fellow students the resources to have both the best learning experience, and the exposure any success will bring.

I want this project to be a repeatable model for student film projects, preparing students for professional-level entry positions, by holding up professional-level production standards, and giving students a chance to “walk the walk”.

But far more than what I want to accomplish for myself and my fellow students, is to share my fascination with this story.

Myrna Aguilar’s extremely accessible screenplay and its relaxed, contemporary dialogue puts everything into a down-to-earth and close-up human context that everyone can relate to. And our cast is already creating warm, likable people that you will enjoy spending time with.

We want people who see “Bistro Pact” to take away a feeling that dead ends can be fresh starts, even when sometimes success itself is a dead end.

Your participation in our project will help make “Bistro Pact” a success. Contributions of any size are welcome and if even you are unable to contribute financially, please share this campaign far and wide.

With your help we will be able to:

- Give the crew the resources the film requires (equipment, travel, food)

- Cover all the location fees/permits - getting the best look for the film

- Additional set decoration needed for the locations

- Obtain needed required safety equipment and personnel

So please, if you can, contribute here to make this film possible. Any contribution helps, and even if you can’t donate, sharing and telling your friends about it will help a lot too!
