Hello,

My name is Michael Mules . I am a conceptual artist from the depths of Cornwall. I have a physical disability called cerebral palsy which affects my right arm and both legs. I am also partially blind. My disability has never stood in the way of achieving my dreams. Art has always been a massive part of my life. My art lets me tell my story and share my thoughts in a creative way. My art is bold, bright, striking and above all very me. Nature is a large inspiration to me and my creative process. I am in love with creating birds. These birds are definitely not what you would call realistic but I believe they are majestic and have characters all to themselves. Why I choose to create birds is , they represent to me freedom because they can go anywhere do anything they want to without any restrictions. I see this as a parallel to myself because I am slightly restricted by my physical disability.

I have a best friend and PA- her name is Polly. When I first met Polly we sat down and she asked me about my dreams and goals in life . Things that I felt were out of reach and impossible . But I dreamed and thought about my dreams and goals. One of these goals was to publish a book. The funny thing about dreams is there is a part of me that never thinks they will actually happen. EVER. However in having a dream -why not make it a reality!! So I guess that’s why I’m here with my first colouring book.

I would very graciously ask for your support in raising money, to self publish my first book. This book is a colouring book that I have been working on for over two years. The book fully features original artwork of my birds living in their natural environment. Each piece of artwork is meticulously detailed and precisely drawn to engage the eye of the viewer . I would like you to wonder at what possibilities there are when the birds and their surroundings are coloured in .

I have given a few of these pages out to people to experiment with. After they have done experimenting and colouring on these pages, I have asked for feedback from them to see whether these pages are worth the time to continue . Not to toot my own horn but the feedback I have been getting has been very positive and made me move forward with this dream.

I want to encourage the individual to engage with this book as if they are creating their own world with no instructions or guidance. To feel completely free and at peace within their own creative process. I hope this book will be able to support people going through challenging times and give them a retreat where they feel safe and secure within their own world of colour and imagination.
